Radiata Pine Grades

No.1 Clear - Clear on 2 faces and 2 edges, no knots.


 

C & Better Select – Clear on 2 faces and 2 edges with the occasional small or minor defect.
 

No.2 Clear – Clear on 1 face and 2 edges worst face can have some small tight knot.


 

Buildpro 'XP' Grade - Cut-of-log from a fully pruned log, with all timber below #2 cuttings graded out.  Click here for photos and more information on XP grade.
 

Fingerjointed Clear – Clear on 2 faces and 2 edges.


 

Dressing / Furniture Grade – Minimal small live knots allowed , knot size not greater than 1/3 width of board or 50mm whichever is greater.


 

No.1 Cuttings – Each piece shall yield 70% of its length in clear cuttings 1000mm or longer.




Partial Pruned

No.2 Cuttings – Each piece shall yield 70% of its length in clear cuttings 600mm of longer.


 

No.3 Cuttings – Each piece shall yield 70% of its length in clear cuttings 200mm or longer.


 

Premium Cuttings – This is a combination of 30% No.1 cuttings and 70% No.2 cuttings.


 

F-Grade – This grade provides a high degree of usability without excessive waste.  Click here for more information and photos.

 

Cut of Log (COL) – this is a mixture of No.2 and No.3 cuttings.
 

'A' Pith in Cut of Log (A-PICOL) - This includes some No.1, No.2 and No.3 cuttings and some Industrial. PICOL is cut from an 'A' grade log and offers excellent yields for furniture manufacturers. Click here for images for a recent actual run of APICOL.
 

Special PFCOL - This is a custom grade supplied into Asia mainly preservative treated.  It is for outdoor visual use. It is PFCOL with 95% of any holes, and bark encased knots graded out.  Click here for more information and pictures.

  

Merch - Fully intergrown knots can be up to 1/2 the width of the face. Holes and loose knots are unrestricted if under 20mm in size. Some pith permitted.

 
 

Industrial / Packaging - Any number or combination of defects are permitted as long as the board will hold together during normal handling. Generally heartwood with pith in.
